Request that your name be added to the New York State Public Service Commission (NYSPSC) Service List for the Article VII filing of NYRI.
Why:
The NYSPSC will soon begin hearings on the NYRI project. The NYSPSC makes the final decision regarding all applications, but Article VII establishes the forum in which community residents can participate with members of state and local agencies in the review process.
You can participate in the proceedings in several ways (coming next). But no matter what level of involvement you choose, it's in your best interest to make sure that you are personally signed up to receive orders, notices and rulings relating to them. To do this, you have to be on the NYSPSC's service list. (If you don't get on the service list, you can look to NYSPSC's website for information.)
How:
Click here to create a printable letter (in PDF format) that you can send to the Public Service Commission. It must be received by June 30.
And while you're at it, we encourage you to call family and neighbors without Internet access, tell them about this action, get their information and fill out a form for them.
We also encourage you to register your opinion of NYRI with the NYSPSC on their website: http://www.dps.state.ny.us/comment.html.
Fight the power,
StopNYRI.com
P.S. Two anti-NYRI rallies will be held on 6/15/2006 at 6 pm. One is at the Senate hearing at Norwich High School (you can sit in on these hearings). The other is in Otisville, which will be literally cut in half by the power lines if they are approved.
