Participate in the New York State Public Service Commission Article VII NYRI proceedings

Why:

Article VII proceedings are open to participation by New York State agencies; municipalities; local environmental, commercial, planning and community/public interest groups; and to individuals who have an interest in the project.

Just 4 months ago the Maryland Public Service Commission rejected a similar project (also a privately owned company aiming to build power lines). Strong public opposition was cited as a major consideration in the decision. We need to show the NYSPSC just how strong--and widespread--public opposition to this project is.

How

One of the following ways:

1. Request party status as a group or organization to actively participate in the case (deadline: June 30): http://stopnyri.com/actions/letters/group_party_request.html

2. Request party status as an individual to actively participate in the case (deadline: June 30): http://stopnyri.com/actions/letters/individual_party_request.html

3. Join with the UDPC for party status: http://www.udpc.net/intervener.html.
(The UDPC has filed for party status and is inviting land and business owners who are affected by the project to join with them. If you list with UDPC, you will be represented by their legal counsel, Richard Lippes.)

4. Comment on the case by mailing a written statement to the Office of Secretary, New York State Public Service Commission, 3 Empire State Plaza, Albany, NY 12223-1350. Be sure to include the case number (06-T-0650).
Want to use our sample letter?: http://stopnyri.com/actions/letters/psc_comments_letter.html.

5. Call the NYSPSC toll-free opinion line (800-335-2120) to register your opinion. Be sure to include the case number (06-T-0650).

6. Submit your comments online: http://www.dps.state.ny.us/comment.html. Be sure to include the case number (06-T-0650).

7. Deliver a written statement of personal view and concern at a public statement hearing (more on this soon).

Fight the power,

StopNYRI.com

P.S. Thanks to you, we beat our goal of growing to 450 by Sunday, June 18!
