Tell your elected officials to put NYRI under oath!
Why
We've heard a lot of strong words from our elected officials about defeating NYRI. But they are still just words! NYRI representatives, who have been arrogant, dishonest and scornful of the public and of elected officials, have been asked repeatedly to give "testimony" but have not once been asked to do so under oath. This means they cannot be held accountable for what they say at these so-called "hearings" and that the transcripts of the hearings cannot be part of an official record. At the most recent hearing on Thursday, August 17, we asked New York State Assemblyman and Energy Committee Chairman Paul Tonko why none of the witnesses were under oath (see the transcript of StopNYRI.com's testimony). He assured us such a thing was "easily accomplished." Let's hold him to it!
